Boogertman + Partners are pleased to announce that we have officially selected the winner of the annual Boogertman + Partners Architectural Design Scholarship Award Africa 2016.
Over the past year, we have communicated this prestigious scholarship to all relevant tertiary institutions both in South Africa and the greater continent. We have selected 5 students whom we believe are the top architectural talent in Africa, and have invited these finalists to join the Boogertman + Partners team for three days to take part in the Boogertman + Partners Design Challenge, in order to select the winner of this award.
On Wednesday, the 14th of September 2016, the finalists met the Boogertman + Partners team at our Pretoria office where the finalists were given a design challenge.
Finalists were challenged to design the first urbanLAB1.0 - a mixed use facility in Pretoria CBD that needed to provide living, working and implementation spaces for an international team tasked with inner city regeneration. They were given 48 hours, after which their designs were judged individually according to the communicated criteria.
WITS University School of Architecture student, Kegan Stokes, received the Boogertman + Partners Architectural Design Scholarship Award Africa 2016.
The judging took place at the 012 Central Events and Market Space on Friday, the 16th of September and was followed by an awards lunch ceremony. Prominent industry leaders and media were invited to this event.
